What is Evapotranspiration?

Evapotranspiration (ETo) (mm) is a weather-based estimate of the rate at which water leaves the soil (Evaporation) and a crop (Transpiration). It uses real-time weather data to calculate this value, including:
  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Wind speed
  • Solar radiation
This tells you how much water your crops are likely to need—not based on guesswork or habit, but on measurable climate demand. ETo shows when conditions will dry soils and crops fasters, increasing the risk of water stress. It can be used to help determine irrigation timing, or combined with your crop coefficient (Kc) and variables such as rainfall to determine irrigation volumes.
