# How can I receive FarmRoad alerts via WhatsApp?

> Follow these simple steps to start receiving FarmRoad alerts via WhatsApp.

<Note>
  To receive alerts via WhatsApp or SMS, your FarmRoad user profile must include a valid mobile phone number.
</Note>

## Enable WhatsApp notifications

1. Log in to FarmRoad.
2. Open the navigation menu and select **Manage alerts**.

3. Open the alert you want to update.
4. Under **Notification channel**, select **WhatsApp**.

5. Save your changes.

## How do I avoid duplicate notifications?

If you only want to receive alerts through WhatsApp, deselect **Text message (SMS)** as a notification channel. Otherwise, you'll receive the same alert via both SMS and WhatsApp.

  Tip: After you receive your first WhatsApp alert, save the FarmRoad phone number to your contacts so it's easy to recognise future notifications.
