# What is the difference between the Growing Degree (GDD, GDH) calculation types?

The Growing Degree Days / Hours widget in Data Studio currently supports three calculation methods:

## Method 1: Growing Degree Days (GDD) – Daily averaging

This is the traditional growing degree day calculation method. The daily average temperature used to determine degree days is calculated from the highest and lowest temperatures for the day.

## Method 2: Growing Degree Days (GDD) – Hourly averaging

This method calculates GDD by summing the hourly growing degrees and dividing by 24 to provide a more accurate daily GDD calculation.

## Method 3: Growing Degree Hours (GDH)

Growing Degree Hours are calculated by accumulating degree hours using each hour’s average temperature.
